Amsterdam with Kids | Top things to do in Amsterdam | Family Travel | Travel Guide | Europe Travel

Hi, I’m Vrinda and I’m 8 years old. I really enjoyed my visit to Amsterdam and in this video would like to share top 5 things that kids can enjoy while visiting Amsterdam.

Stick until the end for a bonus tip!

Amsterdam is a city of canals and has more than 1200 bridges. Here are highlights of my tips:

1. Dam Square: It is a very famous square and a great place to hang out. It is the main place of activity and you can witness street performances most of the time. It is close to Amsterdam Centraal and you can reach here by walking from Central station (just 5 mins). You can find many different historic buildings nearby as well like Royal Palace, Beurs van Berlage, an old Stock Exchange building etc. Another must-see in Dam Square is Madame Tussauds, the world-famous wax statue museum.

On the south side of Dam Square stands the National Memorial statue, built in the memory of Dutch soldiers who died in World War 2. Unveiled in 1956, the monument stores soil from all of Holland’s provinces as well as from the Dutch East Indies.

2. Cheese Factory: We went for a small day trip outside Amsterdam city to Volendam and visited Cheese factory there. We were shown how cheese is made. We also tasted different kinds of cheese – plain, pesto, pepperoni, herbs etc. It tastes amazing when you try cheese with Honey Mustard Dip. We also bought assorted cheese from there. If you are in Amsterdam for 2-3 days, you must plan this day trip. You can book it from tourist centers near the Centraal station. You can also check at Viator – https://www.viator.com/tours/Amsterdam/Zaanse-Schans-Windmills-Marken-and-Volendam-Half-Day-Trip-from-Amsterdam/d525-2550LIN2A

3. Canal Cruise:
a. Starts from Amsterdam Central
b. Roughly 1 hour cruise
c. Interesting tour – covers History, canals

4. Stroopwafels
a. During our day trip we also saw demonstration of how stroop waffels are
made
b. Had freshly made crisy stroop waffel

5. Heineken Experience:
a. Tour to show how beer is made
b. Fun activities for family
c. Funky picture / videos

PS: This video was shot last year, but my mom got lazy! I’m 8 years old now 😁
